• My website at https://www.tourbybike.co.uk has been behaving very erratically. Wouldn’t load at all for a couple of days.

Now it’s displaying a version of the website that is about a year old. None of the posts I’ve made in the last year show up in the admin panel, neither does the child theme I created nor the plugins I installed.

Curiously, earlier in the day it switched back to the current version but later switched again to the earlier version.

Inspecting the files with FTP and the database with phpmyadmin everything looks fine. The posts, child theme etc. are all there. On the live site and in the admin panel there is no sign of them.

My web host, unlimitedwebhosting.co.uk, are saying the problem lies with the code of the site. Is this likely? It looks to me like a caching problem but I’m not using any caching on WordPress. Does WordPress have some sort of site history?

Any thoughts as to where the problem might lie?

The site is now switching between versions every few hours.

Has anyone any idea what could be causing this?

WordPress simply cannot “switch” between versions. The code to do that just isn’t in there. I think you need to go back to your hosts on this one. Seems to me that they are the ones who are switching versions or restoring old databases.

    Hi Esmi
Thanks, that’s pretty much what I thought. Unlimited Web Hosting have finally admitted that the problem is at their end. It seems to be a DNS and server issue.
