My site was hacked and taken over; I’m not the one who was maintaining it, so I’m not sure when this occurred, or where most recent backups are located. But I know the free version of Wordfence was installed. Is there any way I can utilize wordfence to clean or rollback my site?

  • You can use Wordfence to clean your site. This link will show you how.

A few important things to do right away:

    • One of the first things I would do would be to backup the site as it is now and save that to your local computer just in case something goes wrong.
    • Update plugins and the theme to the latest version, especially Wordfence (to benefit from the latest improvements). Many of the sites we clean were originally attacked via plugins or a theme that wasn’t updated. Even if the plugin or theme is deactivated, update it.

If you need further help, there are other options available on our site, wordfence.com
