Site goes down when Twitterfeed picks up Posts

  • We have been using Twitterfeed to pick up our posts for the past 2 1/2 years. It normally takes about 5 minutes while this process is occurring before we can use our wwbsite again. For the last 2 1/2 weeks, while Twitterfeed is picking up posts however, it has been taking about 15 minutes and then the site goes downs completely. We get error messages that says Internal Server Error and running out of memory. The php script is running very high during this process. Our host company had trouble re-booting the server claiming the WP php was a problem. Since the only way to get our posts to Twitter is through Twitterfeed, is there a solution for this or is the php script really the issue? Twitterfeed picks up 5 tweets and checks it every 30 minutes so this is quite a problem now to keep our site up when posts are being picked up.

    First of all, twitterfeed is not the only way to get your posts to twitter, you can also try WP to Twitter plugin, which tweets the post to your specified account whenever you publish a new post.

    About the twitterfeed, are you certain that its the twitterfeed thats causing the issue? have you tried disabling the twitterfeed for a while and test out the server for performance?

    Also if you are getting Internal Server Error and running out of memory error, have you tried finding which PHP files are being interpreted when this happens, by going through the error logs?
