Site goes down every day for some time

    My site:

    is acting weird. almost everyday it stops loading for a couple of hours. After a couple of hours it’s back again. Or when I disable (from phpmyadmin) en re-enable all my plugins it’s up and running again. According to my host the server is fine.

    I’m using these plugins:

    What can be the problem?

  • It sounds like you have a bad plugin somewhere.

    How do I find out which plugin is bad?

    All I can suggest is deactivating all of your plugins (using phpmyadmin if necessary), then reactivating one every 1 or 2 days until you being to hit problems again. From my experience, Akismet, Contact Form 7, Google-XML Sitemap Generator & WP-Dbmanager should all be fine (although I think that WP-Dbmanager is no longer being maintained). The rest – I couldn’t comment on.

    Sorry I can’t come up with anything better but sometimes, it just boils down to a case of slow “trial & error”.

    I got more than 15 plugins, so that’s gonna take a lot of time. Because I have to wait 1 day after each plugin activation to be sure.

    For now I have deactivated:

    WP-DBManager
    Wordpress Backup (by BTE)

    Because I don’t really need those for my site.

    I will start the whole process when I have more time.

    I thought I found the issue for bad performance of my site, when I deactivated these two plugins:

    WP-DBManager
    Wordpress Backup (by BTE)

    Because my site was running smooth for two days. But now it’s performing bad again.

    How can this be a plugin issue?

    was your site installed using fantastico? I had a simialr prolem that i ould never figure out but then it came down to me using fantastico to install wordpress. I deleted all files then i did a manual download my self and no issues.

    I used the auto-installer of my host for my wp-installation. My site is running smooth for the last week. So I hope it was one of these plugins i disabled:

    WP-DBManager
    Wordpress Backup (by BTE)

    Maybe it’s because these plugins have automated functions that made my site go down?
