    Hi, we just received the following email from WordPress:

    Howdy!

    Since WordPress 5.2 there is a built-in feature that detects when a plugin or theme causes a fatal error on your site, and notifies you with this automated email.

    In this case, WordPress caught an error with one of your plugins, Mailchimp for WooCommerce.

    First, visit your website (https://anielaparys.com/) and check for any visible issues. Next, visit the page where the error was caught (https://anielaparys.com/wp-admin/admin-ajax.php) and check for any visible issues.

    When seeking help with this issue, you may be asked for some of the following information:
    WordPress version 5.8.1
    Current theme: Aniela Parys (version 1.0.6)
    Current plugin: Mailchimp for WooCommerce (version 2.5.2)
    PHP version 5.6.40

    Error Details
    =============
    An error of type E_PARSE was caused in line 479 of the file /home/customer/www/anielaparys.com/public_html/wp-content/plugins/mailchimp-for-woocommerce/bootstrap.php. Error message: syntax error, unexpected ‘>

    Is there a fix for this?

    @awesonja you are probably using an out of date PHP version on your site. It’s recommended to upgrade to a minimum of php 7 – so please contact your host for this upgrade ??

    Hi Ryan, thanks for your reply! We checked with our host and have actually been on PHP 7.4.23 for a while now. For now we’re not seeing anything strange but if we manually update to PHP 8.0.1 or 8.1 that crashes our site (critical error). This error disappears when we deactivate the Mailchimp plugin.

    @awesonja thanks for chiming back in with that additional issues. We’ve seen other PHP errors for upgrading to PHP 8 and are investigating. We’ll be sure to update this thread when we know more.

    Hi @anonymized-17720056, thanks for your patience. This should be resolved now in the latest release (v2.5.4). Please let us know if you need anything else.
