    Hi all,

I’d like to have my site in various languages but want to avoid plugins (because I didn’t find a free plugin that translates everything: pages/posts, widgets AND custom_fields).

So I thought of two solutions: 1) use multisite or 2) duplicate my site into subdomains where they’ll be translated.

I’m trying the 2nd option since I thought it’s easier. So I duplicated my site into the fr.mysite.com subdomain. The problem is that when I make a modification in the dashboard of fr.mysite.com/wp-admin the modification also appears on my main site mysite.com !!

    Any idea or advice?
    Many thanks

Does each installation have its own separate set of tables? ie do your wp-config files either have two separate databases defined or the same database with different table prefixes?

All right I see, I wanted them to work on the same database but didn’t create different table prefixes. So I should duplicate all the tables and change their prefixe, right?
I’m not sure to know how to do this properly..

Or is it better to create a different database? (this I can do easily, and then I’ll change the wp-config.

Another issue is that my main site wp-config file is placed above my public_html for security reasons. Can I also put my subdomain’s wp-config file there or they would conflict?

you can create a new database,
    and for the second question,
    Yes they may conflict…
