• A wordpress site was duplicated from one domain to another and then placed in a /staging/ subdirectory on the new domain. This was done by the host providers. None of the permalinks are working with them all returning 404 not found. I can view the homepage at /staging/ but anything such as /staging/name-of-page returns a 404.

After looking online I edited the htaccess file to have the following two lines in:

    RewriteRule . /staging/index.php [L]
    RewriteBase /staging/

And also went to the settings -> permalinks -> changed to default then back to current settings.
    Thanks in advance

  • I don’t deal with staging. I pay $2.00 a month to ManageWP and they make daily backups on my site so if something goes wrong I can go back up to 90 days. Love it and it’s a great price too.

They even have this new service where they’ll monitor your SEO rankings for $1.00 a month. Very affordable if you don’t want to spend a lot of money on them expensive services.
