BruteProtect was working fine prior to us updating all of our sites. After the update, we are receiving continuous Site Down email notifications, even if the site is up.

We are not having any web hosting related issues. All we did was update the BruteProtect plugin this morning and bamm – the emails. Some are repeating for the same sites.

Please advise. I’d rather not disable the monitoring emails.

    Sure!

    Koomohost.com and Webshoo.com.

Thanks for your help, and patience sir.

So koomohost is outputting our check string:
    <span id="bruteprotect_uptime_check_string" style="display:none;">7ads6x98y</span>

It should be behaving properly as far as I can tell. You may have received a SITE UP email. Let me know if you keep getting emails from that site.

Webshoo, however, is not outputting the check string, which leads me to believe that the template file that is handling your home page does not make a call to wp_footer()

Our check string is hooked into wp_footer action. Can you verify for me please, that your template uses wp_footer?

Yes it does. All of our sites use BruteProtect and worked fine prior to the recent updates (2.3.1?) to BruteProtect.

I wonder if those email were left in your Amazon SES queue and just got sent out.

I will keep an eye on it. Thank you for your prompt response and help. ??

No prob. I’ll be here if stuff comes up.

    Sorry for the inconvenience.

Sorry but it is still happening. After a few minutes, our support inbox was filled with BP Site down (false) notifications.

Yes, all the sites call WP Footer (over 90% are on Genesis Framework) and everything used to work fine.

The only changes we have made on our end is that we upgraded to PHP 5.6. Could that affect anything?

    Thread Starter rasolis

    (@rasolis)

To add, then we get a Site is up notification. Then repeats the cycle all over again from down to Up site notifications.

    Thread Starter rasolis

    (@rasolis)

On the other hand, our other sites on a different server are not receiving any false notifications at all. The only difference is it is using PHP 5.4 and on a different provider.

    Following up. Any update?

Rocco can take a deeper look this weekend. Please understand that issues can take time to resolve, but we do make every effort we can to track them down.

By chance, are the sites that are having issues using any form of caching? How about the sites that aren’t having the issue?

    Thread Starter rasolis

    (@rasolis)

    Totally understand, just asking.

Every site that used BP had the same issue. Yes, we are using caching W3 Total cache, NGINX on the server and we cleared them all. Deactivated them and all plugins. See thread.

However, BP was working fine prior to the last update and we haven’t changed our set up.

The only changes were plugin updates for 4.0, WP itself to 4.0 and PHP to 5.6.

Thanks. No worries. Have a good weekend.

Hi Rasolis, can I get an update on where everything stands at this point so that I can investigate further?

Please let me know a list of domains that are still reporting back as down, but are actually up, and I’ll get this checked out.

    Thanks!

    Hi Sam!

Thanks. I updated our plugins to the latest BP update this morning. Was reviewing the set up via the Dashboard…

All was going well until for about 15 mins or so. Then I received 2 site down notifications for

    https://www.standbythemusical.com and https://www.jeffstobie.com

That’s it so far. Both sites are up and running.

and another came in for https://www.wingchuncombatives.com

Yep… another came in for https://www.puyallupbyvanessa.com

Going to uncheck the box for monitoring. We can always use Jetpack’s for monitoring which is installed too by the way…

    ANd more came in…

I’m having the same issue on https://www.denduvelmakere.nl
Strangely the notifications keep coming even after disabling the plugin.

I’m going to mark this thread as resolved, as it is getting a little jumbled.

Kinsella55, I’ve manually stopped the notifications for denduvelmakere.nl, thanks for bringing that to our attention.

Feel free to start a new thread with any other issues you are having.
