BruteProtect was working fine prior to us updating all of our sites. After the update, we are receiving continuous Site Down email notifications, even if the site is up.

We are not having any web hosting related issues. All we did was update the BruteProtect plugin this morning and bamm – the emails. Some are repeating for the same sites.

Please advise. I’d rather not disable the monitoring emails.

Checked my.bruteprotect.com and the your panel is in error. It states some sites have been down for an hour, when it hasn’t.

Hi, I too am getting this. Screenshots fine, sites running, but 12 out of 39 sites reported “down” a few minutes after 2.3 upgrade. No cache plugin installed, no obvious commonality between sites reporting down and sites reporting OK.

One of the sites just reported “Up” but no apparent reason for that. I don’t want to turn off monitoring… that’s why I have BruteProtect to alert me when something goes wrong!

    TIA

Reaching out via Twitter. Have been getting notifications every few minutes and it is eating up our premium Amazon SES limits.

Unselecting monitoring in BruteProtect section for all of our customer sites. Was hoping there was something in the my.bruteprotect.com to disable it on all sites.

Dang, it was easier and faster to use manageWP to deactivate the plugin. Love using BruteProtect, hopefully this gets resolved ASAP.

Hello, we’ll look into this – thanks for reporting. Notifications shouldn’t do anything with your Amazon SES limits. Let us know if you have more info on that part.

Thanks Stephen. Sure it does, my server is using Amazon SES vs Postfix to send out email from the server or WP site.

I have deactivated the plugin for now.

Normally, the emails are sent from our servers, not directly from affected sites.

Ah okay. I saw they were coming from Amazon SES, so I naturally thought they were sent from our servers. Sounds like you are using it too, Okay.

    Thanks for the clarification.

Thanks for your reports, folks. We found the issue and we have pushed 2.3.1 to fix it.

What happened was that sites that weren’t redirected to the bruteprotect-config page after updating to 2.3 ( ie, sites that were autoupdated, or updated through my.bruteprotect ), didn’t get the new configuration data. Our output of the check string depended on the new data, so those sites didn’t get a check string, and thus, appeared to be down.

    Sorry for any inconvenience.

Awesome! Thanks for the responsiveness, taking the time to check it out and your patience as we tried to explain it. ??

Sorry to inform you but after upgrading to 2.3.2, We are still getting the site is down (false) notifications.

    Going to deactivate once again.

    Please advise.

Could you pick one or two of those sites, and turn Uptime monitoring back on. I’d like to run a few tests. ?? thanks
