  • Hi @biztrainer,

I’m sorry to hear that you’re having issues with your site.

    Questions:

    • Do you have access to the files through either a file manager (like cPanel File Manager) or via FTP?
    • Can you log in to the WordPress Admin?
    • What happened to cause this issue? Did you upgrade or make any changes to any files on the site?
    • Are you able to get any support from your host? Can they restore a server-side backup for you?

Ideally, I’d recommend temporarily removing or renaming your theme and using a default theme like Twenty Seventeen while troubleshooting.

Also, like you said, disabling plugins can help.

Another thing you can try is to download a fresh copy of WordPress from www.remarpro.com and replace the core WP files on the server and see if that helps you load the site. That will also contain a fresh copy of the Twenty Seventeen theme.

My goal would be to make sure I have a clean version of WP that I can access and then try to activate the theme. If you get an error, I’d see if you can download a fresh copy of the theme, or you’ll have to troubleshoot the code error.

If the theme works, then you’ll want to re-enable plugins one-by-one until they’re all activated, or you encounter errors.

    I hope that helps!

    Thank you for the suggestions.

I have renamed my theme in hopes wp would revert to 2017, same error.
I installed 4.9.1 via the file manager over my existing copy, same error.
I renamed the plugins folder, no change.
I installed a second wp in another directory, transferred my theme from the non-working wp, and it runs fine.
I copied most plugins directly from the broken wp, to the new wp and still runs.

    This is a multi site….

OKAY! I renamed the themes folder and the sites come up. Anytime I try to install a theme, new, different, old I get this same error.

So I created another folder “themes” and installed my theme and it runs????
    so does 2017 etc.
So what is in the original themes folder.. a tmp/ file somewhere????

Where the hell is the tmp/ folder in my error? LOL

The above problem has not been solved.

I found this hiding at the bottom of admin pages

    Warning: preg_match_all(): Compilation failed: PCRE does not support \L, \l, \N{name}, \U, or \u at offset 23 in /wp-content/plugins/wr-pagebuilder/core/helper/functions.php on line 903

Never had so much trouble with wp.

So it sounds like there is some sort of bug in the WR page builder plugin maybe?

Also, please don’t be alarmed, but other similar threads indicate that this means your site has been compromised. Do you have any security measures in place?
Please check if you see any suspicious files in your WP installation.
