Just updated my site and now it does not work. Here is what it says when I try to load it.

Warning: require_once(/home/content/p3pnexwpnas09_data03/33/2538033/html/wp-content/themes/zerif-lite/class-tgm-plugin-activation.php): failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /home/content/p3pnexwpnas09_data03/33/2538033/html/wp-content/themes/zerif-lite/functions.php on line 75

Fatal error: require_once(): Failed opening required ‘/home/content/p3pnexwpnas09_data03/33/2538033/html/wp-content/themes/zerif-lite/class-tgm-plugin-activation.php’ (include_path=’.:/usr/local/php5_4/lib/php’) in /home/content/p3pnexwpnas09_data03/33/2538033/html/wp-content/themes/zerif-lite/functions.php on line 75

I tried deactivating the plugin’s folder but it didn’t solve the problem, then I change the name of the theme through FTP and now I can access my site, but when I try to change the name back to be able to keep using the same theme… it gives me the same message.

I would like to keep using this theme, so any help will be very appreciated.

I show there’s a similar topic to this one, but it’s been marked as resolved as the other guy had back ups (unfortunately I don’t).

    Thank you!
    Enric

  • I am having the same issue as well. Anybody have a solution?

    same issue for me

So I fixed it. You have to download the file class-tgm-plugin-activation.php from this site: https://tgmpluginactivation.com/download/

Then FTP into your site and place it in the folder name zerif-lite. Refresh the site and it should work.

Thanks Jakna360! It worked for me as well ??

Unfortunately, most of the configuration I had it’s gone.
Any one knows a way to recover it?

If it was the theme itself that was edited then all the code will be replaced by the new version (this goes for anything WordPress, including plugins so when you get custom coding don’t update). There is no way of getting custom code back unless there is a backup somewhere. Contact the developer who changed it to see if he/she has a backup.

I am new to WordPress – only here 5 days.

My site crashed this morning after I updated the Zerif lite theme. I see that a solution has been posted, but I have no idea how to do it! Sorry, I am a beginner, and the solution was like a foreign language – I see that I made sense to others – can someone help me translate into a step-by-step guide, so I can fix the problem?

I know that FTP stands for File Transfer Protocol, but how does one “FTP into a site”??? How does one refresh it??? where does one find the folder name zerif-lite??

“Then FTP into your site and place it in the folder name zerif-lite. Refresh the site and it should work.”

My host kindly got into my site and changed the theme. Has the theme Zerif-lite now been fixed? In other words, rather than do the ‘fix’ is it now safe just to change my theme back to Zerif-Lite??

Thanks very much! I will pay attention and memorise how to solve the problem – please be patient – this is my first website…

    Thank you jakxna360

@ero77 when you make any changes to your theme, you should make a child theme. You can download a sample child theme here: https://docs.themeisle.com/article/5-zerif-lite-documentation

this way you can make changes to the child theme and when the original (parent) updates, you won’t lose the changes.

I’ve gone to the recommended site https://tgmpluginactivation.com/download/. It asks for information – can someone help me?
    It asks for:
    Text Domain
Function Prefix and Name. I’ve tried all sorts of combinations, but I don’t know what it needs – so it won’t download or generate the fix/code I need.

Also, does anyone know if the people responsible for Zerif Lite have fixed the problem? Can I safely change my theme back to Zerif?

    Troydane – I have same problem…
newbee to this type of problem – how to create the right file https://tgmpluginactivation.com/download/ ??? Anyone?

    Hi,

We are really sorry to hear about this issues. We are currently trying to find out what caused this issue, as the latest update didn’t changed anything regarding the file mentioned in the error, and until now, we couldn’t replicate the error. It appears that this happened only on some of the users.
As a momentary solution, you could do what jakxna360 said, download the file from here https://raw.githubusercontent.com/Codeinwp/zerif-lite/production/class-tgm-plugin-activation.php, and upload it with FTP to your site. Please do not rename your theme folder because that could cause losing data. Let me know if I can help with more details about this.
We would be glad if you could help us debugging and let me know what Zerif Lite version were you using before(if it was up to date) and what PHP version is running on your server. Also, if WordPress was up-to-date?

    Thank you very much,
    Rodica

I’m not shure how, maybe I’m lucky newbee – but I managed to get the file made at https://tgmpluginactivation.com/download/
by writing “class-tgm-plugin-activation” in Text domain, leaving the function prefix empty (it fills it self) and the next writing Zerif Lite in Name

a zip file was to download and in this the class-tgm-plugin-activation.php was in ??

Online ftp access from work and the problem is history ??

    I did like this:
    – my configuration plugin:
    https://s6.postimg.org/lpzx3qai9/plug.png

    – unpack downloaded plugin
    – move files to the server
    https://marusmk.spunkwood.eu/Pliki/ftp-copy.mkv
    – activate plugin
    – activate theme

Reply to Rodica – I was using ResponsiveBoat and it was completely up to date. I just clicked on the update and my site crashed immediately.

To PiaBrix – so glad to see another newbie here! Thanks, I don’t feel so alone…

My site is now working – but the ‘solution’ I found probably isn’t ideal. I contacted my host, Site Ground, and they were able to get into my account and change my WordPress theme.

With a new theme activated, I was able to access the site do a ‘live preview’ of various themes. ALL the Zerif themes displayed the same error message, something about ‘line 75.’

SO, I DELETED the Zerif Theme from WordPress. I spent a few hours searching for a new theme, as I need something really reliable, especially as I’m not a computer expert!

But in the end, I really liked the look of the Zarif theme… so I reinstalled the theme. Then I did a Iive preview and it worked! – it actually put all the images and text back in the right places.
After the live preview worked, I cringed while I activated the theme. I was expecting to get ‘the white death screen’ again, but it actually works.
