I have 5.1 version installed on my site and to my very bad surprise it takes my site down, leading to an blank page just displaying “error”.
There was a message on top of admin page saying that I had to pay Pto version, whereas I’d never asked for it and it was never mentionned when I installed it.
I had to disbale the plugin via FTP to recover my site!
    Weird methods…

It sounds like the iTSec plugin locked your IP out … no panic a host lockout is only temporary … it expires by default after 15 minutes (the lockout period is configurable just like the message ‘error’ …)
You can lock yourself out when forgetting to whitelist your IP …
It actually means the plugin is doing its job …

I think the message in the WP Dashboard you are referring to is:

It looks like you’ve been enjoying iThemes Security for at least 30 days. It’s time to take the next step.

[Upgrade to Pro] [Rate it 5 *’s] [Tell Your Followers]

It’s only displayed once, 30 days after activating the plugin … it’s called advertisement.
Just like the hundreds ads you see on TV and hear on the radio …
So 1 extra ad won’t hurt I guess.

If you have a blank page WITHOUT the word ‘error’ displayed and you have not changed the iTSec plugin default Host Lockout Message setting then you are experiencing a different issue.

So in that case it is better to create your own topic.
Make sure to include a complete problem description. The more info you provide the easier it will be to help you.

Oh, one other thing. Officially iThemes does not monitor this forum as is clearly stated in the readme.txt file.

It’s disgusting from iThemes! Because anywhere on iThemes.com site there is no info that you site will be blocked down after 30 days of using iThemes! @dwinden Are you using this plugin?

Please take a deep breath and stay calm.

The iTSec plugin does NOT block your site after 30 days.
The message ‘It looks like you’ve been enjoying iThemes Security for at least 30 days.’ displays 4 buttons.

The fourth button is located as an [X] on the right upper corner of the message. It allows you to ‘Close’ the message without making any other choice and you can continue using the plugin for free.

Your issue is NOT caused by this message and\or the choice you make.
    Please open your own topic.

White screen does not mean “iThemes Security took your site down” (especially after uninstalling the plugin).

It means there is a PHP error ***Somewhere***.

Have technical support (your hosting provider, or your site administrator, not iThemes) check your site error logs.

This may help finding the actual problem:

White screen except “error” also doesn’t mean it’s iThemes Security that doesn’t work. It could be the URL or Query String have words that are being blocked; it could be your login name is being blocked (too many login attempts by hackers); it could be other things.

The plugin help page has how to check for login lockouts.
