• URL provided is a staging site as I am rebuilding gatehealing.com in a new theme (inFocus for WordPress).

I ran a Ryte.com analysis of my staging site and it pointed out that I have 2 descriptions metatags, and that I should have only 1. I found that the SEO field of the inFocus theme was one of the descriptions, and the other was in this plugin field.

Which is better for me to use? I will keep the plugin active either way, but want the desecitption meta info to be in the best location.

Thanks for the great plugin. All of my manually completed json-ld stuff on my other site was wiped out on new theme.

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

Looking further, once I deleted the plugin description, there were still 2 meta descriptions as it looks like the plug in one was separate, but just had same description. The other meta description was in Settings > General > Tagline.

Question remains: Should I delete the Settings Tagline meta description and the InFocus Theme > SEO > Home Description (those both show up as “meta name=”description” content=……….” in different places.

Thanks again for any help you can offer.

It seems like this is a general SEO question, and not on related to our theme?

    Hi kcseopro,

Yeah, not sure if I was clear in my reply to the orig post. There are several places where a meta description can be entered, and all of them show up in the html code, thus generating an error when I run some seo tests. . . the places are:
    1) The SEO schema plugin (this one)
    2) Settings in the wordpress interface
    3) The inFocus wordpress theme

It could be a general SEO question, but its related to your theme if y’all say that using your meta description field is better than the wordpress settings field or the inFocus theme field.

It may not matter if the code generated is the same, but I’m a bit new to all of this, so I’m not sure if having it as a part of the schema.org json-ld data is preferrable for some reason.

Apologies for my ignorance on on some of this–there’s so much to learn and stay on top of with just google seo, not to mention where to put what and in what format. I think I am sweating out html code these days!
    Thanks,
    Jon
