    Hi
I try to install the Woocommerce plugin om my BeTheme website and it results in the homepage crashing (critical error has occurred…)

I have also tried to install WooCommerce manually (downloading zip file), but the same thing happens.

Before installing I deleted all plug-ins related to WooCommerce.

I have also tried deactivating all plugins and then innstall WooCommerce. When I do that, the installation is successfull, but when I try to activate Woocommerce plugin, the website crashes again.

Thanks in advance for any help!

    Hi @jannees

To start, you’ll want to make sure that your server meets the minimum requirements for WooCommerce:

    https://docs.woocommerce.com/document/server-requirements/

It sounds like this may not be the case if activating WooCommerce causes the site to crash.

If you still can’t get it to work, you could post your system report for review. The method is described here:

I have checked all requirements for WooCommerce and made changes to the PHP version. It still doesn’t work…
Thank you for the information and the link. How can I get system status report when WooCommerce is not activated?

    Good point.

Have you increased the memory available to WordPress. The default is 40MB but often this is increased to say 256MB.

Yes it is increased to 256MB

@jannees This would generally point to a plugin conflict. It sounds like a plugin installed on your site might not be compatible with WooCommerce and causes these crashes.

I would attempt to go about it inversely. Disable ALL plugins on the site. Under that setup, install and activate WooCommerce. Once Woo is enabled, you can start activating plugins one by one – until one crashes the site. That’s how you’ll be able to find out which one is the conflicting plugin.

Thanks for your response @fhaps ??
I tried to deactivate all plugins, install wordpress successfully. When I activate woocommerce the site crashes again. None of the other plugins were activated when I activated woocommerce.
    Any more tips please?

So if BeTheme + WooCommerce only fails, the next thing to try would be Storefront + WooCommerce. If that works, then BeTheme must have an issue. Seems unlikely but there’s not much left.

If Storefront + WooCommerce only fails, it indicates a fresh reinstall is called for.

But then I will loose all the work I have done on the website…? I was hoping to avoid that.

No, you would backup your posts, pages and css.

But if you are unsure, try a second separate install in a subdirectory. WordPress + Storefront + WooCommerce. If it works, put in BeTheme. Doesn’t take long. If it all works you’ll know the primary install has a problem and you can consider whether to do a fresh install on the primary site.

I guess Betheme + woocommerce have proven to work in thousands of other websites, so a fresh reinstall is the solution.

I have never done that, do you have any tips? Is it just uninstall and reinstall wordpress?

    Does Storefront + WooCommerce work?

Try the subdirectory install first, if only to satisfy yourself that it can be made to work on your hosting.

Otherwise, back up your pages and posts, any custom css and custom functions and note down any settings you can’t remember. Backup any images.

Remove all files and the database before reinstalling. A rebuild is a last resort but it seems you’ve tried everything else. Maybe leave it a short while and see if the Automattic support dev comes back to the thread with a better suggestion.

    Hi there,

We haven’t heard back from you in a while, so I’m going to mark this as resolved – if you have any further questions, you can start a new thread.

    Kind regards,
