Site crashes

  • Hey there,

    My Theme (Shopkeeper) updated yesterday and it didn’t load correctly afterward. (Blank page, with just the top bar and the language switcher) So, I figured it had to be Polylang. I deactivated it and all of a sudden my site was working again.

    Anyone had this issue and what should I do? Delete Polylang and install anew? What happens to all of my translations?

    I have the same problem using Polylang. The trick I did is deleting the language that causes a blank page and add it new. Then I assign all needed pages to the newly added language.

    As I use English as default language and German as a second language, I did not use the language “de_DE Deutsch” again, but used instead “de_DE (formal) Deutsch” – so a new language code with different files.

    It worked. After every update to the Polylang plugin I had to go through this process, but I can use Polylang at the end so it is working out for me. It seems as if every used language code results in a blank page after updating Polylang.

    Thanks for your reply. I will delete Dutch and create a new language code. I hope it will do the trick for me too.

    Well,

    That didn’t work for me. My site won’t load. Also, when I add the new language, there isn’t a way to relink the translated pages. All my pages are now seen as if they’re all stand-alone pages.

    Any help is appreciated.

    The site crashing and white screen happened to me again once more which is why I decided to stop using Polylang for my multilingual website. Instead I read a lot about options and came along with WordPress Multisite, a natural WordPress way of multilinguality – and it’s free. Multisite is creating a network and allowing to install several sites in one WordPress installation.

    I created a Multisite network with my website and succeded within minutes. You need to be able to access your website server via FTP. I decided to use subdomains (de.mysite.com & fr.mysite.com) that I created on my host’s provider account.

    I advise you to read about Multisite. Google it. As all my plugins are compatible with Multisite, I am totally happy ??

    I already run a multisite network… It’s quite the workaround if you plan to use the multisite just for translations, there has to be another option, right? I have a question though. Which theme are you using?
