site crashed bad can’t login

  • had installed wordpress 3.0 had installed a new theme with ftp and was trying to make minor edits to it and it then crashed and I could not log in or get to my dashboard. tried to check htaccess and database unsure of steps to take

    Try resettings your plugins. If that resolves the issue, reactivate each one individually until you find the cause.

    If that does not resolve the issue, access your server via FTP or SFTP, navigate to /wp-content/themes/ and rename everything except the /twentyten/ directory. This will force the Twenty Ten theme to activate and hopefully rule-out a theme-specific issue.

    have done such – still cannot even get to login page – domain does not even come up. It started first not applying the theme and just showing the html and text then the domain just went out. could this be a database error

    Can you describe what you mean by “then the domain just went out?”
