Site crashed after 3.8.1. update

Usually when that happens, there has been a fatal PHP error causing the script to die and not send anything to the browser. I would look for a PHP error_log file in either the blog’s root directory or perhaps the /admin directory to see what might be wrong.

Personally, I do not like automatic updates of anything. Other than virus scan definitions, I turn all of them off on my PC.

I have also disabled all automatic updates on my blog. That way I can actually do a proper back-up before I click the Update button.

Okay, thank you. How would I do that? I have a very basic knowledge of the code side of things. XD

Your hosting providers would be best to ask where your site’s error logs are.

Also could you ask your hosting providers if they’re backing up your site already?
