site crash on activation

    this is the error shown:
    Fatal error: Call to undefined function PrintMyBlog\controllers\register_block_type() in ******/wordpress/wp-content/plugins/print-my-blog/includes/controllers/PmbGutenbergBlock.php on line 28

    Site is self-hosted.

    First challenge is that I cannot access the admin portal.
    Any suggestions?

    Yikes sorry! You’ll need to use FTP or SSH to rename the plugin’s folder in order to force it to deactivate.
    So the plugin should be in your wordPress root folder, then in wp-content/plugins/print-my-blog. Rename the folder to print-my-blog2.
    Then the plugin will be deactivated, and we can figure out why it’s having trouble on your site… (what version of PHP and WordPress are you on?)

    Anyways, thanks for reporting the error. I’ve fixed it in version 1.3.3 of the plugin. But unfortunately you won’t get that upgrade until you first deactivate the plugin and get the site back up (you could use the suggestion from my previous comment for that).

    Again I’m really sorry for the error. That’s not fun! Please let me know if I can help, or if there are any other problems you notice.

    To answer first questions:
    PHP 7.0.33-0028
    Wordpress 4.9.8-0150

    Running from synology device to fill in the rest of the picture.
    Will try update and go from there.

    Ok great. I’m really sorry again for that error. It was because I added a feature (Gutenberg block) and somehow overlooked the obvious fact that it needed Gutenberg (the plugin, or WordPress 5.0 or newer) to work.
    I’ll try to make sure to test with versions of WordPress that are pre-Gutenberg (eg 4.9.9) on future plugin releases.
    Thanks for reporting the issue rather than just leaging a bad review.

    @mnelson4 You don’t necessarily have to use older versions of WP. You can install the Classic Editor plugin on later versions of WP, and just toggle its activation in order to test with & without Gutenberg.
