• SO sorry for how poorly phrased this question is about to be: Buttt I am working on converting an HTML site to wordpress. The problem is that the domain I am working on lives as an addon to the hosting account of a main domain WHICH i do not want to convert to wordpress.. The URL structure of the domain is https://www.site.com/siteimworkingon even though the separate domain has been purchased. Is it possible to install wordpress on this individual domain’s folder, leaving the main domain of https://www.site.com untouched, or must I set up a different hosting account for the new domain to set up WP exclusively here?

Thank you for ANY help and SO sorry for how confusing/ed I am..

  • Hi laur.santini,

If the domain you are working on is an Addon domain (has a separate domain name and not just a subfolder) you should be able to access it through that domain name. You should not have to access it through site.com/siteyouareworkingon.com.

Let me provide an example to make sure I’m explaining this properly. Let’s say I have two domain names xyz.com and 123.com with xyz.com being my main domain and 123.com the Addon domain. If I want to create a site on 123.com I can just install WordPress on 123.com and when I want to see my site I would type in https://www.123.com (or just 123.com) in my browser without having to go through xyz.com/123.com.

    Hope this helps!
