• After a number of months without any problems, I have lately been receiving the following message every week or so when going to my site (something that appears to be resolved only when the hosting company restarts the server) – any thoughts?:

    Error establishing a database connection

This either means that the username and password information in your wp-config.php file is incorrect or we can’t contact the database server at localhost. This could mean your host’s database server is down.

    * Are you sure you have the correct username and password?
    * Are you sure that you have typed the correct hostname?
    * Are you sure that the database server is running?

If you’re unsure what these terms mean you should probably contact your host. If you still need help you can always visit the WordPress Support Forums.

    now im getting this message…help

  • That’s a problem with the host; as per the messages you’re getting, their database server goes down every so often. If you always got that message, then it would be a problem with your database name and password in your wp-config file. first thing to do is contact your host. If the problems go on for hours or days and those host says the databse server is running, then the next step is to check your wp-config for damage.
