• I read quite a few other forum posts with similar titles, but none of them seemed to match my situation. This might take a bit, so sorry if I can’t get all of it in the initial post.

So, I have a friend who had her old web designer giver her the site on a hard drive and it all seems to be there. It was working (most of it) when he was hosting it. So, she wants it hosted on her Hostway account. So far, this is what I’ve done…

According to Hostway support, everything looks correct on their end as far as name servers, database, config file information. etc.

The site was uploaded to the “web” folder on her Hostway account.
I imported a database found on her hard drive that was a recent backup from a folder called “backups-dup-pro” I’m assuming a plugin I’m not familiar with. It first gave me an error, but after changing it’s name (it was very long) it gave me a different error, I think a timeout, but when viewing the tables it seems that all 90+ are all there.
I had Hostway support make sure I was editing the config file correctly, including the DB_HOST so I entered what they told me to.
I’ve tried to look for any missing files, and can’t find anything, but I could be way wrong on that.

I’m sure I’m forgetting stuff and not sure where to go from here to troubleshoot this.

I have also experiences, off an on, the download issue where going to the site causes a file to download to my hard drive, as a matter of fact, Chrome isn’t doing that anymore, but both Firefox and Safari ask me about the file I’m about to download.

Oh! I have no idea what version of WordPress the install is, so I’m sure it might need to be updated, but not sure the best way to do that without touching edited files.

    Thanks!
    Brooks.
