• Hello,

    Since updating Wordfence on Monday, my WP site is giving ERR_EMPTY_RESPONSE. This is happening with different browsers (though, Safari’s message looks different: “cannot open the page because the network connection was lost”), on different devices (computer vs phone, incognito vs regular), and with different internet connections (wifi vs mobile LTE). I have not changed anything else since Monday. I am hosting with a small European host that I have used for the past 15 years. Other non-WP pages on my site work just fine.

    I have read other threads stating that I should deactivate all of the plugins and try again, but I can’t even get to the admin page (ie, no WP page works).

    It rarely loads the home page but other pages. This is particularly troubling, as I made WP the main page of my website in mid-March, so almost every visit to the top domain dies now.

    Any thoughts or recommendations?

  • Hello rgatl,
    there could be many reasons for this error excluding Wordfence but if you think it’s related to Wordfence you can log in to your web server via FTP/SSH and rename the Wordfence folder located in wp-content/plugins. This will disable Wordfence. You can use this method to determine whether your problem relates to Wordfence or not. For instructions on how to enable it again, please see this post.
