• My site was running slow, so I decided to upgrade hosting(GoDaddy). I downloaded the files on the server, and canceled the old hosting. After realizing I forgot to export the database, I called Godaddy and got a copy of it.

I created a new database on new hosting, with the same db user. In the config file, I edited the name, user and pass. The lastly uploaded the wordpress files into the public_html folder. The site loads, but is very weird. Broken links, missing content.

Let me know if you need more info

  • Firstly make sure you have the correct theme loaded. Then you may need to reset all of your customizations. Part of that will be your menu of choice. If you are still having problems you may need to look into the links and/or database.

    Hope that helps,
    Don

Yes, I am using the correct theme. Here is the site.

It is giving me a 503 maintenance page. Have you reset all of your customizations? Including your menu, logo and theme options like colors, slideshows, etc.

I basically just uploaded it and haven’t touched anything. How would I reset my customizations?

    in your dashboard left sidebar:

    This is all I see

EDIT: btw, in my database, there is a file in the wp_options that has the wrong directory: a:5:{i:0;s:67:”/home/content/67/11759467/html/wp-content/themes/flexform/style.css”

This may be a theme issue. Here a link to a screenshot of the Dashboard sidebar in WordPress:

    Yep, I’m already there: https://gyazo.com/3b6cb8d9166e44b157a0ed99842876da

Are you asking me to re-install my theme?

It looks like your file structure is broken.

    home/garrzilla/public_html/wp-content/

Your home page is pointing outside of your public_html folder. All of your wp files should be in your public_html file. It’s difficult for me to tell exactly what is going on with your file structure. A screenshot of your FTP window showing the file structure inside your public_html folder would be helpful.

Please make certain not to include any private info.

Here are the FTP folders, and here are the files inside of the public_html folder.

I moved the files around a bit, so not sure if I’m missing a file :/

I’m not sure exactly how your GoDaddy file structure should be setup. What is in your public_html folder seems right. What you have on your FTP folders screenshot looks right except that it is all two folders deeper than what it seems it should be.

    home/garrzilla/

This doesn’t seem right to me. Everything after those two folders seems ok. Have you talked to GoDaddy?

I dont know what to ask them. I told them the site isnt working right, and they said they can’t help with wordpress.

Ask them which folder your WordPress files should be installed under. Right now it is under:

    home/garrzilla/public_html/

If that is right then find out where you name server is pointed to. They should be handling that for you even if GoDaddy isn’t the registrar.

They are now selling WordPress specific accounts now. Is that what you upgraded to?

    Hope that helps,
    Don

No, I just got hosting with cPanel. About the nameservers, I haven’t changed them since I switched hosting, is this something I have to do or is it automatic?

I will call them later today

It is not automatic, someone needs to handle it. If you went from GoDaddy to GoDaddy it most likely wasn’t necessary. But if they put you on a different server with a different IP address there are some things to change with A records and MX records. They should’ve handled that for you if it was necessary.
