Built a site for a friend and when she updated the WP version, the site apparently broke. She tells me she did nothing else at the time.

The admin is not accessible. But via FTP I tried to rename the plugins folder to see if that helped. Site still broke, so I changed the folder name back to default ‘plugins’.

One thing that looks odd, in the ftp software (FileZilla) all of the WP folders on this site’s server have red question marks?

Any advice to fix, really appreciated.

    Thanks

  • Try:
    – switching to the default theme by renaming your current theme’s folder inside wp-content/themes and adding “-old” to the end of the folder name using FTP or whatever file management application your host provides.

resetting the plugins folder by FTP or phpMyAdmin.

    – re-uploading all files & folders – except the wp-content folder and the wp-config.php & root .htaccess files – from a fresh download of WordPress. Make sure that you delete the old copies of files & folder before uploading the new ones.
