Site blinks black briefly during load

  • I’m not totally new to WordPress, but this is the first time I have encountered and issue where, during the loading of the website, there will be a brief black blip of less than a half a second. I’m pretty much a novice when it comes to PHP/CSS so I’m not sure what is going on in the load process here.

    I’m trying to get this site/blog debugged for a non-profit. In doing so I started out with the twenty ten them, and tweaked the header.php, footer.php, and style.css to clean it up a bit. I currently have 8 plugins actively running and 8 widgets.

    Thus far in the troubleshooting process I have tried reverting back to the un-altered header.php, footer.php, and style.css, disabling plugins, and disabling any text/html widgets. All with no success.

    So there was no downtime in their website being accessible I built it under a subdomain https://newsite.fedfamsc.org and re-pointed domain to the folder which the WP site was in, once it was completed. Then edited the WordPress Address and Site Address to correspond to the new domain.

    Is there something I forgot? A step I skipped? Can someone help me with what is going on here.

    OK, I tried a re-install of WordPress 3.0.1 via FTP trashing the wp-admin and wp-includes files before updating, also downloaded a fresh copy of the twenty ten theme, and re-uploaded the header.php ,footer.php , and style.css files I modified to match original. Still no luck. Any ideas? Any Help? Anyone???

    I don’t see a black blip.
    This might have to do with your system.

    Try looking a the site in a different browser.

    Peter_L, thanks for taking a look, I did try it on IE7, IE8, Firefox (Mac & PC), Chrome (Mac & PC), and Safari. All delivered the same result, a brief black flash or blip loading over the page. I did another round of trying different plugin combinations and found out what was causing the problem. There was an apparent load issue with the Photo Galleria plugin. Talking with the developer now to see if the issue can be resolved.

    Thanks flashnick! I was going insane trying to find the reason one of my sites wasn’t displaying properly in IE8. What was odd about my problem was that the site would load correctly, but just for 1 second… then it would “blink/flash” and would load all jumbled up.
