Site Appearance Help

Hello,

On the homepage of my site I am having a hard time with two things:

1. The appearance of my homepage has too much extra white space at the bottom. I would like to decrease or remove this.

2. On the Blog page I would like to show the featured image (thumbnail size) for each post. When I set a featured image now it shows full size and is just way too large.
