Site address (URL), Cannot Change in WordPress?

  • my request for help:

    would like to change the site address (URL), as an example:

    from: personal.com/wpDB

    to: newurl.com
    using 1&1 web hosting: I can ‘frame direct’ so pages show as newurl.com – but only when viewing. when I go to use social media tools, the link shared is personal.com/wpDB/link instead of what I want it to show, only: newurl.com/link

    on blogger, there is a clear work-around for this issue by creating a C/A-Name – how can this be done w/ WordPress!?!

    I’m convinced there is a solution but I cannot seem to find it and it is extremely frustrating.. by just changing the ‘Site address (URL)’ in the General Settings to newurl.com the site breaks down.

    thank you for your help!! to recap, just want to hide personal.com/wbDB, so all links show w/ the root newurl.com.
