Single WP Blog to Multisite

  • I have searched for quite awhile and I’m getting various ways and suggestions to doing this, and many respond that they encounter errors.

    Currently, I am running the latest WP for a single WordPress theme. (https://www.cpargolf.com). I would like to include a different wordpress theme under a sub-domain named “blog”. At this point, I am not running Multisite.

    What is the best solution for this?

    Post Categories on existing theme are being used for “promo code” categories. Therefore, I would like to have a different theme and location for the blog area.

    Then multisite would be some serious overkill.

    What would be your suggestion?

    There will be no need for comments on the blog. So I am not concerned with user compatibility stuff between the two.

    How separate a theme are we talking about? 100% separate or just slightly? I’d be inclined to use Custom Post Types. I’m very fond of them ??

    You can style the homepage completely different than the rest of the site, and you can style individual posts completely differently.

    Some themes let you change layouts (structure) on a per page basis as well.
