Single Post Pagination

Hi — I am interested in creating pagination for my blog posts. By this, I don’t mean adding navigation between posts, for which I found a couple plug-ins. Instead, I’d like to limit the length that any blog post page can be (perhaps by setting a character or line limit) and automatically have any post that exceeds this limit extend onto subsequent pages, with a typical pagination navigational schema associated. Make sense? Any ideas on how I can accomplish this?
