Single event parent slug won't change

I’m not sure if this will help, but try adding the following code to your WordPress theme functions.php:

function __ai1ec_custom_slug_name( $translations, $text, $domain ) {
        if (
                AI1EC_PLUGIN_NAME !== $domain ||
                'events-new' !== $text
        ) {
                return $translations;
        }
        return 'event';
}       

add_filter( 'gettext', '__ai1ec_custom_slug_name', 10, 3 );

Thanks for the quick reply. Nothing happens after I add this to functions.php :/
We are using an AIT theme called Directory+
Maybe that’s an incompatibility issue.

https://mossvale.org.au/events/ Is set as the default calendar page in the settings? Do you use a shortcode?

Yes, the /events/ page is set as the default calendar page and we don’t use shortcodes. After changing /events-new/ to just /events/ all events are created as /events-new/event-name

I’d love to try that, the problem is I don’t find the plugin in the plugins directory. I had already looked for that and thought it strange that it’s not in there. Alright, this worked just perfect! Another dev migrated the website to another server and I wasn’t notified, that’s why the plugin directory was “missing”. I’ve reinstalled it as suggested and everything works great now. Thank you so much, Benjamin!!!
