I am a long time Joomla freak, and have recently been reintroduced to WP via friends and work, and am looking to create an organization website.

What I want to create is a single column website, with a fluid width for different screen resolutions, and of course, responsive for multiple devices.

I am using Site Origin blocks and widgets, as this was what was introduced to me that impressed me so much. Yet no matter how many templates I try, all my content gets stuck on the right half, left half, or in the center of the page.

Does anyone have any recommendations for what I am doing wrong, suggest a template that actually only has one column and is fluid width, or otherwise point me in the right direction?

    Thanks

  • Can you describe the issue better, or maybe with screenshots?

    I don’t see the issue.

You want the entire site, every page to be a single column ??

    See attached :

If you really want a single column, then you are already doing that with the row –> col-lg-12
    Just keep adding those rows.

    But just fyi,
you are already using the Bootstrap grid :
    https://getbootstrap.com/docs/5.0/examples/
and the ArileWP theme you are already using is fine.
Both of these elements are using a responsive, device agnostic approach.

The theme does not (need to) contain your layout.
You can assign templates you apply to a page or a post that define your layout.

The theme there is nice, and I do like the fluid width, but it over writes and restricts the posts from the site origin blocks, and limits them to the bottom of the page.

I suppose the best way to describe what I am looking for would be a similar layout as far as width and function, but effectively a blank slate so I can generate my own blocks in any fashion I desire.

Maybe a single column, full-width, responsive and fluid template that is effectively a blank slate?

That being said, your answer was still very definitive and helpful. I have been using Joomla for about the past decade, so getting used to the feel of everything here again. Thank you @corrinarusso.

Hm, again – I think you are confusing Themes with Templates.
I’ve not use Joomla in at least ten years, so I can’t really paint what the comparison would be for you.

However, I think this would be good to watch :

    > I do like the fluid width, but it over writes and restricts
    > the posts from the site origin blocks, and limits them to the bottom of the page.

    There no limits.
The layout is limited by your imagination.
Everything is 100 percent open source.
