Single and double quotes in excerpts

    Hi,
    I have an issuem with single (‘) and double(“) quotes in excerpts: they are displayed as html entities on the frontend (I’m using the [vsel-all-events order=desc] shortcode to display the events list) and also on the excerpt textarea in the admin section (after and event is saved, when the page is reloaded, all the single/double-quotes are displayed as html entities).

    It seems to me, but I’m not sure, that this problem wasn’t present before the plugin was updated to the last version. It’s just me?

    Hi,

    I have just tested this om my own test domain but no issues here… both default summary (set via settingspage) as the custom summary works fine here.

    So there must be a conflict with your theme or with another plugin.

    Do you have the same issue with the excerpt of a regular post?

    I’m sorry but I’ve tried the plugin under many situations (Windows and Linux OSes, with many themes and with the base themes also, differents devs and production sites, browsers, etc.) and every time I’ve obtained the same behaviour: the ‘ (single-quote) and ” (double-quote) characters are transformed and rendered as HTML:

     ' as &#039 ;

 " as &quot ;

    (without the spaces before the “;”)

    Suggestions are welcome.

    Hi,

    Check this temp link for my test site, you will see everything works fine here, when having an excerpt. There must be a conflict on your site somewhere. Did you de-activate all plugins one by one to see if one of them causes this?

    Update: you mean the custom summary when adding an event… I do notice it now. Did not know this. Will look into this asap and will keep you informed.

    Hi again,

    Found it. Will update plugin next weekend.

    Meanwhile you can change file vsel.php if you want.

    Change esc_textarea into wp_kses_post on lines 160 and 207.
