• We’re using a custom theme. When we updated to 3.1 the add image link stopped working. It would not pop up a lightbox. Also, add category does nothing.

We switched to Twenty Ten and it works. We need our custom theme, though. The strange thing is that it’s only a problem with the backend. The site works fine. The problem is only with the Add New Post and Add New Page pages. I didn’t think these would be affected by any theme files. Can someone help point me in the right direction? How should I debug this? What files might hold the problem?

  • Delete the wp-admin folder and replace it with a fresh version. Don’t copy over files but delete and upload new ones.

It was a good idea, but that didn’t work. I renamed wp-admin, then copied over a fresh new one. I still have the same problems.

Then perhaps your theme is incompatilble with wp3.1 and/or a incompatible plugin is causeing the problem.

It’s not the plugins. We’ve tried deactivating. Changing the theme fixes it. I don’t understand why the theme would affect the backend, though.

If it is our theme, I’ll have to find the issue. But I don’t know where to start. What theme item would affect the Javascript of the New Post page?

Actually, there seme to be a lot of themes facing the same problem:

Hello guys, I’m having the same problem here with my theme.
Anyone found and fix on this or can you point me any direction?
