• Hello all,

Wondering if you could help me, I am completely new to this, so please bear with me.

Since buying and installing an SSL package from 123reg, things have been rather frustrating.
-I’ve been unable to install plugins The Install button next to the plugin just continues to spin – I’ve had to upload them via FTP. I can still activate and deactivate them that way.
-I am unable to view the editing visualiser in WP Admin. This includes posts, pages, theme customising. If i click on customise on customise theme, regardless which one i activate, will take me to a blank screen with the editor bar on the left with the label up the top telling me, ‘You are customising – Your Political Say’, no options underneath..Nothing.
Similarly – the edit option under the Posts/Pages take me to a complete blank screen.

Despite all this, you can still view the website OK – But Admin side is ‘screwed’

    I’ve disabled all plugins – Didn’t work
I’ve installed Really Simple SSL and have it working – made no difference
I’ve looked at the code in HTACCESS and that was fine according to Really Simple SSL.
I’ve uploaded a previous backup of my WP-Admin and WP-Content folder – Nothing.

I’m lost, and have no idea where to go next apart from reinstalling the script, which will result in losing the articles people and i have posted.

Any help or direction would be greatly appreciated – Thank you

    Lloyd Burns

  • Check all the logs to be sure that no errors are being generated that can point you to the problem.

check the error_log (Check wp-admin/error_log if you’re using Dashboard as backend errors go to different error_log)

    Check the console log: https://developers.google.com/web/tools/chrome-devtools/javascript

Anything that points to a potential starting point

Hello, Lloyd. I see you’ve been welcomed, but, welcome from me nonetheless.

There’s a lot you don’t tell us here, Lloyd. Firstly, what sort of hosting do you have, ie, shared, VPS, dedicated, managed, what? That would be really important for us to know.

Secondly–& please note I don’t ask often for folks to do this, because it really is a security risk. However, please edit your wp-config.php file & change the variable WP-DEBUG from false to true. Save the file, visit the site, & report any errors generated by doing that.

Once you’ve finished copying error messages, then please in the name of all that is good & right & all that other wonderful stuff–*change it back!!!*

It would also be helpful to know what plugins you’re running.
