Since 4.0, site is white; will work if reinstall, but then goes white again

  • somebody help. ever since i updated to 4.0, my site has gone to the white screen of death.

    i deactivated ALL plug-ins. I checked with the basic theme. nothing fixed it.

    I then reinstalled 4.0 (auto) and the site came back up immediately, no problem, but then it reverted back to white only a short time later.

    this has been repeated several time.

    can anyone tell me what’s going on?

    Blank white page is a PHP error. Reasons you’d get that error are:
    (1) Bad theme
    (2) Bad plugin
    (3) Bad install/upgrade
    (4) you exhausted the memory limit
    (5) It could also mean that there is an issue with your web hosting server.

    Since the problem can be caused by any number of things. 1 and 2 are common.

    Thanks for the feedback.

    I feel like i eliminated 1 and 2 by deactivating all plugins and using a default theme and still replicating the issue.

    I went through the process to increase mem limit, even though i don’t get an error, still nothing.

    Do I try a manual reinstall? the intersting thing is when i do the auto reinstall, the site works when reloaded and then craps out immediately.
