• My brother, who is my host, noticed that my bandwidth was increasing tremendously this month. He noticed that there seemed to be an inordinate amount of hits on the Simpsons plugin quotes.txt file. It maxed at 10,668 hits on June 18.

Can anyone tell me why this file is being accessed so much? Is the the design of the plugin the problem?

    Thank you, jim

  • If you remove the random simpsons quote from your blog, does your bandwidth usage decrease?

Does the plugin have a link directly to your quote file, instead of having the user create their own?

Someone might hotlink that quotes.txt also

Skippy – Yes, the badwidth goes down when I deactivate the plugin.

Jaxia – The quotes files contains all the quotes that are displayed on the blog. The concept is similar to the Witty Text plugin except that it parses the record in the quotes file to replace a person’s name with an image.

I started modifying the Simpsons plugin to be more like the Witty Text plugin in the way Witty Text accesses the text file, since that file is not referenced at all in my awstats data.

    Thank you
