Simplify write post – removing drag/drop features

  • Does anyone know if it is possible to simply disable the “helpful” advanced features introduced into the write post/write page sections in the admin in WP 2.0.

    I find the drag/drop show/hide features more annoying than helpful. If the categories list is not open, I forget to use it, then have to go back and change it later. If I want to open it I have to click the little + sign (compared to the large title which moves the list)

    What I would prefer is a simple way to just have all the options showing all the time, with the drag/drop disabled. I hope this is possible without having to completely re-write the admin pages myself, although I am happy to make a few modifications if necessary.

    obeattie: Thanks, but that wasn’t quite what I was meaning.

    To clarify, it is the other option on the writing page, “Categories”,”Discussion” etc. that I want to simplify.

    Leave them open and WP should “remember” it – next time you go to Write, all the menu options should be “open” as they were when you worked last time.
