Simplifies GoDaddy

  • UPDATE: The latest version of this plugin now asks for your CPanel Username and password. This is an unacceptable security risk to introduce to a process that was previously working just fine. As such I can no longer recommend this plugin.

    I have been using a 3rd party called ZeroSSL to generate certificates for the last couple of years (effectively a front end generator for Let’s Encrypt the same as this).
    They recently placed it behind a paywall and made it difficult to renew their “Free” tier.

    I am so glad I found this plugin, you guys rock. I just updated a GoDaddy certificate and it was easier than ZeroSSL, properly free and from within WordPress itself. Superb.

    A lot of our free users were struggling because they were not able to properly verify their domain ownership using HTTP or DNS verification methods. For our pro customers, the domain ownership step is automatic.

    We recently decided to automate the domain verification process for our free users too.

    The reason why our plugin asked for your username and password in your particular case was that we weren’t able to use cPanel’s command line API to connect to your cPanel and verify your domain ownership. Only in such instances do we ask the user for cPanel credentials so we are able to connect using cPanel’s web API.

    I understand your concern. Please allow me to counter.
    * Your cPanel username and password are encrypted and stored on your website server. No one else has access to it.
    * You can verify our claims by downloading the plugin and going through the code.
