There are quite a selection of field options to choose from. If I want to allow the user to enter a block of text I can choose between text-area and rich-text. The text-area doesn’t give the users any formatting options unless they are familar with in-line html, whereas the rich-text gives an abundance of formatting options which some users simply abuse.

Is there a way I can specify rich-text but reduce some of the formating options. Basically I would like a simplified editor.

    Thanks

I’ve never looked into this, but the plugin uses the WordPress built-in visual editor for rich text fields. This means that you can use the filters that are provided by WordPress to customize the editor. There may be other plugins you can get that give you the ability to customize the editor as well.

    Technical details: TinyMCE

Yes I use TinyMCE Advanced which allows me to add or subtract the functions that are available. It works really well and allows me to limit what users can do. I find that if I give users too many choices they enter all types of horrid formatted text
