Simple way to add a dynamic copyright date in footer?

Is there a simple way to add a ‘dynamic’ copyright date in the footer text? I thought I knew how to do it but my way isn’t working. ??
(I apologise if this is already covered. I did a search and also manually read through all support topic titles, didn’t see anything.)
