Simple Tags Source Of Huge CPU load and server crashes

  • Just want to make everyone aware that this plugin while it did work for some time has now become the source of a huge number of mysql calls and causes the cpu load to max out and crash the server.

    It pobably works okay ona small site but I have have 3,826 posts and 2,794 tags. Those tags are reproduced of 60,000 times.

    Is anyone aware of another option – really liked the auto tag feature.

  • I am having similar problems with 1500 posts and 250 tag names. I have been trying to reduce my tag numbers to see if it has an effect. I use WP Tuner and WPDB Profiling to gauge the SQL query times.

    In the meantime, I have switched on YARPP (Yet Another Related Post plugin) which I always liked better for related posts (it’s more granular and has more controls). So far, this plugin is better.

    But, Simple Tags has great features for managing and mass editing tags that you don’t get in the basic configuration.
