Simple restore not working

  • Hi,
    I’m using wordpress backup to dropbox including the .zip extension and everything works fine. On my dropbox i now get every day a nice 32MB backup without any issue.

    Now the problem: I like to test the restore. So i uploaded the folder “restore” on another webspace. I call mywebsite/restore/ and it starts. It’s asking for permission to connect to my dropbox without problems. Now i choose the file that i want to restore. And here is the problem. I get a message that says: “Unable to open file handle for /var/www/vhosts/XXXXXXXXXXXXX.com/httpdocs/mcp/XXXXXXXXX-backup-2013-04-06.zip”

    What to do?

  • Wow… 2 months and no response. Restores are pretty critical yes?

    I think I’m going to look for another solution.

    Woops, this post must have fallen through the cracks.

    To be fair, restoring is a very difficult problem and should really be done manually due to the fact you have to setup the database correctly amongst other things.

    In saying that, just because it’s difficult, it does not mean it’s impossible. Simple restore works in a simplistic way for most people but, unfortunately, not all.

    In the coming months I will be focussing more time on WPB2D to fix some of it’s shortcomings.
