Simple question (I hope) about main page look

  • Hi,
    I am very new to the wordpress world, and I am amazed by how much trouble I’ve been having getting my blog set up.
    I thought I was kinda good at this web stuff.
    Not so much…

    I am using the theme “Manhattan” 3.0.

    My desire is to have my front page only display snippets of current postings.
    Like little 4 sentence teasers, sort of.

    Also I would like to set it so that the date is listed automatically at the top of every new post.

    Any help anyone can provide please advise away.

  • Looks like it already has the date at the top. If you are looking for something like this:

    Then open index.php in the theme and replace the_content with the_excerpt

    Hi figaro, and thanks for the reply.
    No, I don’t need the little date stamp gif type deal.
    I just want the date to automatically appear at teh top of my new posts. The dates on my blog posts now are put there by me each time someone adds new content.

    Any ideas?

    Also this “preview” new post situation. Do you know what i mean?
    I want the posts to not be complete on the main page. I want there to be like a 3 sentence snippet and then you’d click on the snippet to see full post (or be taken to the section it’s from where you’ll see the full post.)

    Please help.
