• I am in the process of building a site in wp. this is my first time at wp so I am a newbie. I have searched and tried too many of the login plugins to count and perhaps I don’t understand but they just don’t seem to do what I want. what I want is really simple. unless I don’t understand them, which is possible, they all seem to be logins for the whole site.

I just want to create a login for a clients only page. so if someone goes to my site and clicks on the clients page they will be prompted for login. I want the login to be maintained by the admin. clients will be emailed the login credentials.

it shouldn’t be this difficult, what am I missing. I have built other site using other software like serif and it was simple. thank you for you help

  • The simple method is to set the page’s visibility to Password.
Look in the Publish panel of the page edit screen, and click Edit next to Visibility: Public, then set to Password.
This is not a login as such, and only works on a page-by-page basis, but might be enough.

If you need more complex and controlled access, try a plugin such as WordPress Access Control (I’ve not used it, but looks like it might do the job). There are several other plugins that will perform similar tasks.

Hi Neil, yes I am aware of the password feature but as you say it is a general pw login for that page. what I need is a separate login to that page for each client not just a general login. each client will need their own login info which the admin will control. I have looked at all the plug-in and I don’t see one that works easily for this. seems they are too much for my use or perhaps I don’t understand them. I’m sure someone else has had this situation and I would like to know what they did.
