Nope, that didn’t work, I tried this;
#menu li form input.stock{
background-color: #888;
}
<div>
<input type="text" name="s" size="15" />

<input class="stock" type="submit" name="submit" value="GO!" />

RatFink: did you remember to define the class in the button’s html? Unfortunately WP doesn’t ship with that class defined (it probably should) so you have to add it yourself.

Hmmm isn’t this;
#menu input.stock {background-color:#888;}
defining the class?
I just tried that instead of
#menu li form input.stock{
background-color: #888;
}
And it’s still not working.
