The Plugin “Simple CSS” appears to be abandoned (updated August 27, 2021, tested to WP 5.8.7). Type: Plugin Abandoned. Issue Found August 28, 2023 3:27 pm

This plugin makes the GeneratePress premium theme priceless. Without it… I’ll need to change my theme.

    Please update this plugin a.s.a.p?

    Thank you in advance,
    Trish

  • Hi Trish, I agree that GP + SimpleCSS is priceless, and I would also love to see them test it against WP 6.3. So I second your request.

That said, I would not rush to abandon GP for another theme if they don’t get around to testing it right away. I have used SimpleCSS on multiple sites with GP and latest WP, though I don’t use CSS extensively myself. Usually it has come about using a snippet provided by GP’s awesome support staff.

If you are really happy with GP and they don’t test against latest WP, another option would be to put your CSS in Additional CSS, which is now a part of WP itself. The disadvantage of that is if you did switch theme, the CSS is not carried over automatically. But if you stick with GP, that issue would not arise!

One more thing: do you have GP Premium? IF so, you could also post on the premium forum — that gets faster attention! If you don’t, I would be happy to post your request there on your behalf.

@boboberg Thank you for your offer.

Yes, please do post on GP Premium regarding this issue if you can. I would sincerely appreciate that.

When I tried there first, their server would not allow me to put in a ticket. I could only click on suggested Q & A… which was useless for this issue.

I truly love GP Premium, so I have no intention of deserting the theme, willy-nilly… unless, of course, if they desert their support for it.

I have been a GP Premium customer for many, many years, so I am loyal, but If you’ll notice, there have not been any replies to support requests from the author for over 3 years. I do believe that with that much time gone by, it is evident that this plugin has indeed been abandoned, so last night I did a little searching and found SiteOrigin CSS. It actually seems like a really good free plugin, especially re finding the correct selector. I haven’t worked with it yet, but the video tutorial that comes with it looks excellent. I have over 50 websites. I’m going to switch them all over to SiteOrigin CSS.

PS: I stopped using GeneratePress a couple of years ago and have transferred all my sites to Kadence WP Theme because it is so superior, and they are continually adding new features. I started using Free Forever, but have now paid for Lifetime Full Bundle. It’s expensive ($800 US), but imo, well worth the money. Their tech support is amazing. If you have a problem or need to do some customization they send instructions with a video of how to do what you want to do.

Hope this is helpful to others.

    Trish,
I posted your question on GP Premium forum:
    https://generate.support/topic/simple-css-plugin-appears-to-be-abandoned/

On posting to the GP Premium forum, you can go to this page:
    https://generate.support/

If you have a GP Premium license, you can create a support account and then you will be able to post queries. I have found them to be very responsive there.

You don’t need to be logged in to read support questions and discussion.

    Hope this helps!
    Bob
