    Hello! Can anyone provide some insight on how to make the categories and the date/comments/views portion show up on the same line?

    I want the categories text on the left formatted one way and the date/comment/views information on the right on the same line formatted another way.

    This is the relevant index.php code:

    <div class="clearfloat">
    	<div class="title"><a href="<?php the_permalink() ?>" rel="bookmark"><?php the_title(); ?></a></div>
    	<h3 class=cat_title><?php the_category(' | '); ?> &raquo</h3>
    	<div class="meta">[<?php the_time('j M Y') ?> | <?php comments_popup_link('No Comment', 'One Comment', '% Comments');?> | <?php if(function_exists('the_views')) { the_views(); } ?>]</div>

    And, this is the style.css code:

    /* HTML Elements */
    * {
    	margin:0;
    	padding:0;
    	}
    body {
    	font: 100% Arial, Helvetica;
    	background: #000000 url(images/diag_stripe.gif);
    	color: #333;
    	}
    p {
    	margin: 15px 0;
    	}
    a:link, a:visited {
    	color: #FF0000;
    	text-decoration:none
    	}
    a:hover, a:active {
    	color: #FF0000;
    	text-decoration:underline;
    	}

    I know it has to do with getting the span tagging correct, but I just can’t seem to get it. I bolded the code segments I have tried to work on. I am new to .css and php obviously. I have posted before on the forum and never received any help. I have searched this topic and still cannot find a solution.

    Please help.

    Yeah a link would be useful. Normally you can use #id {float:left;} and .class {float:right;} to do this, but it depends on how you set things up.

    Hi

    You want to float the cats left and the dates right

    I suggest wrapping a Div around
    <h3 class="cat_title"> and <div class="meta">
    so you can set the padding and margin on the whole line as a unit by applying it to #metawrap

    <div id="metawrap">
      <h3 class="cat_title"></h3>
      <div class="meta"></div>
    </div>

    Then the CSS

    #metawrap h3.cat_title { float: left; width: 60%; }
    #metawrap div.meta { float: right; width: 39%; }

    This gets them on the same line. May need some tweaking after that.
