What happened? All was well in the world. Simple Calendar was my part of my website was working great and I loved it. It took a long time to setup as I have advanced integration with multiple calendars and google calendar. Then all of a sudden it stopped working and was getting an error code and the site would not work unless I deactivated plugin….. if I activate the plugin, this is the error…

    Error

  • I have SimpleCalendar Pro and saw this problem as well–updated today (5/4) to the latest update, and any pages with the calendar began displaying “wordpress critical error” until I deactivated the plugin. Running WordPress 5.7.1 https://bransonalpinemountaincoaster.com

Hi, can you check that you got updates for Simple Calendar and the Pro plugins? I know there are changes in this version that mean you need to update everything at the same time!

    • This reply was modified 3 years, 6 months ago by mickwall.

I currently have Simple Calendar 3.1.36, Simple Calendar Full Calendar Add-In 1.04, and Simple Calendar Google Calendar Pro 1.05

I am seeing a very similar problem… cannot add detail to timing etc but can indicate that the issue is beyond the few posting. The error is removed by deactivating the Google Pro addon

    WordPress version 5.7.1
Current theme: Child of Vantage Premium (version )
Current plugin: Simple Calendar – Google Calendar Pro Add-on (version 1.0.5)
    PHP version 7.4.18

OK guys, is your pro addons licence still valid? I am not sure you have the very latest versions, I am not the developer of these so cant be certain.

I would raise a ticket on the pro addon site

I can confirm that my pro addons are not still valid. Perhaps someone can enlighten on whether use of a paid product is permissible after the license period? I thought it was with the understanding that updates and user support services stopped. And I thought it might be reasonable to expect that the product would not go belly up for older versions every other year or so. I certainly would consider this when purchasing licenses for my non-profit organizations sites…. they really cannot afford annual fees for the half dozen or so plugins they would like to use to do things like calendars and managing user memberships. If we were constantly changing how we used the plugins and reaching out for support I could understand but we basically set up our calendars in late 2015 and have perhaps made one change since and we have not used user support except when the plugin quit working and an upgrade was used to fix it.

    Hi

I was hoping the developer would chip in here. I know how to fix this but would either need access to your site or talk you through how to fix each error.

This issue has been cause because Simple Calendar used to cause conflicts with many other plugins that used the google toolkit. It was me that provided the fix for this for the main simple calendar but I did warn that it would break the pro plugins – now if you have a subscription that’s fine bacause they have released fixed versions of those, if you haven’t then it will break.

So if I take the error posted above, it caused becauise “carbon” has not been prefixed with a unique namespace – this is how we keep this version seperated to others using the same code. this fix is to edit that file and replace Carbon\Carbon with

    use SimpleCalendar\plugin_deps\Carbon\Carbon;

There will be many similar errors that can be fixed the same way – keep posting errors and I’ll reply

Downgrading the Simple Calendar plugin to 3.1.35 fixed the issue for me.
    (Downloaded, unzipped over in wp-content/plugins/google-calendar-events.)

Or, maybe my issue is a quite different one?
I started a new topic here.

I am having the same issue. I am getting a critical error and no calendars are showing. I have Simple Calendar vs 3.1.36. I was told to deactivate my theme and test it that way. Won’t that screw up my website if I try that? This is the link I was given https://docs.simplecalendar.io/troubleshooting-theme-plugin-widget-conflicts/. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I stopped using Simple Calendar… it’s too bad because it took a long time to set up and worked great. I just use Google Calendar and use a code in CSS to not show notes to public. It wok OK and was much easier… it m ight not look as nice, but it does the job.

See my post above guys, I can help you fix this. post the errors and I’ll provide the fix.
