Silently stopped working, verifying domains and email addresses fail
-
In a couple of sites using Offload SES Lite, the plugin suddenly just stopped working. I only discovered this when looking at woocommerce orders: emails just stopped being sent from these sites.
With both of these sites, the Offload SES Lite settings reported the same issue: emails were being sent from unverified addresses.
This is odd, because on both of these sites, the domains and addresses have been verified with Amazon SES. And they were working up until recently.
So I checked with SES itself, making sure to check within the applicable geographic zones. The domains and addresses were verified.
So I went back to the plugin settings to re-enter the verified addresses an d domains. In the ‘Verified Senders’ tab there is a link for entering verified email addresses and domains.
I clicked the link and the dialogue opened. It gives the option to enter either a domain or an email address.
Entering either fails with the error message “There was an error attempting to validate the domain”, or “There was an error attempting to validate the email address.”
The actual error is not given.
The fact that the actual error is not reported, and that there is no way to find debugging information is really frustrating.
