"Silence is Golden" index.php in 4.2.2 Download

  • I just installed WordPress 4.2.2 and saw that I have the dreaded “Silence is Golden” index pages. When I re-downloaded the 4.2.2 ZIP file from WordPress I noticed that the download has the index.php files that are corrupt in the following folders:

    wp-content
    plugins
    akismet
    themes

    I am concerned with starting out with a site that appears to be hacked.

    Any suggestions?
